The "Maison Forte" of Sire Montfort

The term "Maison Forte" (Strong House) is used in the Alps to qualify the manors of noblemen as, also not a true castle, it would be equipped with a tower and several defense systems.

To make sure the castle would always be defended, the Dauphin gives this house to Albert de Monfort in 1300. This family will keep the house until 1428.

The Stables

They are located in the bailey, next to the round tower. Like most buildings, it was made of wattle covered with daub. The roof was made of thatch.
